Sexual wellness doesn’t have a clear definition, but what is clear is that it is tied to overall wellness. And as we all age both decline.
A major part of sexual wellness in men is tied to hormone depletion, particularly testosterone. However even with optimal testosterone levels everything doesn’t just magically plump up. This is where other treatments and modalities come to play. At Rejeune MD, we take an integrative approach to sexual wellness and use multiple modalities to improve and enhance your sexual wellbeing
How Rejeune MD can improve your sexual wellness
- Hormone assessment – Men’s testosterone levels start dropping in the mid-thirties and start having symptoms long before levels considered “Low T.” And without optimal amounts of testosterone your erection won’t be optimal either. Hormones have other benefits as well that you can learn about (here – link to hormone page).
- The effects of Suboptimal testosterone on sexual wellness
- Decrease desire – physiologic – you just don’t want to – and psychologic – you can’t perform so you avoid the act
- Erectile dysfunction – historically erectile dysfunction was defined as not being able to perform or complete however, at Rejeune MD, anything less than full staff counts and restoring testosterone is the first step
- Premature ejaculation – when a man has a tendency to ejaculate quickly without the feeling of control, and where it causes distress to him and or his partner. Once again, the first step in treatment is optimizing testosterone
- Estrogen – not just a female hormone, men have and need estrogen. But too much or too little estrogen can have a major impact on sexual health
- Erectile dysfunction – both high and low estrogen levels can cause difficulty obtaining or maintaining and erection
- Difficulty to climax sexually – both high and low levels of estrogen can delay climax and ejaculation. While that may not sound like a terrible issue to have there can be significant issues. From a female’s perspective, if she has achieved climax well before her man, her vaginal lubrication can run out and sex can be uncomfortable without relubricating. Some men cannot achieve ejaculation through vaginal penetration and must rely on alternative sexual acts to climax. Some men will lose their erection prior to achieving climax and be left frustrated. Some men will reach the point of orgasm but just can’t finish and are left feeling very uncomfortable.
- Erectile Dysfunction (ED) – While a lot of ED is fixed with optimizing hormones, it isn’t always that complete solution. Other therapies we utilize include:
- Hormone therapy – see above
- Prescription medications and injections – even if those had been tried before, optimal testosterone with the medications have been shown to be useful. And if you have conditions that don’t allow you to use “the little blue pill” we have other options
- Pulsewave therapy – shockwave therapy Stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and nerve tissue which helps with penile size, erectile function, and sensitivity
- The effects of Suboptimal testosterone on sexual wellness
