Botox Q & A
What is Botox?
Botox® is a popular injection that relaxes your muscles to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Botox injection appointments take just 30 minutes and don’t require extra time for recovery. If you’re like most patients, you’ll return to normal activity immediately.
What can Botox do?
The most popular of Botox’s many purposes is to relax the muscles that create wrinkles and fine lines on your face, most commonly crow’s feet and scowl lines. A few strategically placed Botox injections make you look refreshed and smooth-skinned for months at a time.
Beyond the Scowl
Beyond minimizing wrinkles between your brows, Botox is also great at minimizing the bunny lines on your nose as well as a number of newer uses:
- Relaxing the vertical neck bands caused by the platysma muscle
- Relaxing the downward pull on the corners of the mouth
- Softening the orange peel contractions on the chin
- A chemical brow lift or brow balance with a few properly placed injections
- Reduction of a “gummy smile” – an excessive show of the gums above the teeth while smiling
- Slimming of the jawline
In addition, Dr. Strong may recommend Botox injections for:
- Muscle spasms
- Excessive sweating
- Chronic migraines
When will I see the results of my Botox injections?
You will notice changes as soon as 48-72 hours after your injections. Even so, you may not enjoy its full effects for 7-10 days after the procedure. Two weeks after your injections, you must revisit Rejeune MD for Dr. Strong to evaluate your results at that time, further enhancements are done if needed.
Your Botox results last anywhere from three to six months. Once they subside, you may return for additional injections to maintain your optimal look. Dr. Strong helps you form a treatment plan that works with your schedule to keep up on your injections.
